Photo poster ideas

Hi, I'm want to make a poster with all my 2007 photos. And I want in a big poster, like 2meters height and 1meter witdh.

I'm currently dropping all the photos to a HUGE photoshop file, but I don't know which layout to use.

I did a little research, and I found nice layouts like this one: http://www.tabblo.com/studio/stories/view/871873/

Any ideas?

I like that layout a lot too- are you ordering the poster, or collaging individual photos?

No, no, I want to make it myself and print it in my local print shop. What i'm looking for is for  layout ideas. I like the tabblo layout, but is very boring, very simple. Anyone has ideas or examples?

try rasterbator. I am also looking for a program mac compatible
that allows me to tile a photograph and print it out on 8.5x11 paper to make a huge print?????

There's an online version of the rasterbator. Ask google.

BTW, here's a preview of what I've done (Of course, isn't finished) Suggestions are welcome!

Here's a cool, large photo-a-day calendar template that measures 8400 pixels (vertical) x 5600 pixels (horizontal) (280 dpi). It's a jpg and suitable for printing at photographic quality to a size of 30" x 20" or larger. The template is designed to incorporate an image for every day of the year and holds 365 approximately one inch (4:3 ratio) photos in a one year calendar format with space for 7 addition images.

Nice, but too boring...

Here's the next step of my poster. Of course, i still have to add a lot of photos. Any suggestions?

ExtraordinaryMachine: Supposedly Picasa does that (I assume there's a Mac version), or online, there's http://www.blockposters.com/.  Good luck.

I read this the other day but didn't want to reveal my thoughts because I thought it might sound a little dumb, but hey there's no fun in life unless you're willing to look stupid : )

I started thinking about Tetris. You could crop photos using the simple shapes, which may create some interesting compositions then piece them together trying to avoid any blank spaces between photos. It may be quite time consuming but the result may be quite interesting

Hey noct (may I call you "noct"?) -

not dumb at all! I like the idea ... maybe I'll get motivated to try it.

Noct is ok with me : ) far easier than typing it all out lol

You could go even further and crop photos into squares, arranging them into nets that can be printed off and made into 3d shapes. It'd be pretty cool to have a cube sat on your coffee table that then breaks up in to loads of small blocks made up of your photos.

Making them into puzzles would make an excellent gift for kids too

Great idea, but methinks I'd have to quit my day job to get that done. And, well, it pays the mortgage. Which I need because I tend to like having a roof over my head when I sleep - spoiled, I know.

Seriously...you've got some good ideas cooking there. If I do make one, I'll be sure to post. Anyone else out there working on this kind of collage/poster?

Andreskrey-how goes it with your project?

I've currently paused it, due to I ran out of ideas. Maybe I will restart again after my vacations.

BTW, I'm working in another poster, this time in ASCII art:

(HUGE gif image, around 2,5mb, so be patient)

It looks really great, although it took a few minutes for me to figure out what it was, due to the size of the image on my 13 inch screen, I'll bet it looks fantastic when printed
