It's been mostly about the ice here in Philly.

Wishing there were trees here.

At the beach.

Both taken last March.

Rollsup,You must be in the northern most part of Alaska?! What do you do there? It must be dark for all 24 right now! Alaska is so beautiful. Have always wanted to go, but so far have only made it as far as the inside passage on a cruise and the airport in Anchorage when I was an army brat (a very long time ago)!

Sigh..I'm new to this sort of thing...also forgot to mention this was taken on the West Coast of Canada in BC. We usually don't get his much snow--mostly rain and wind this time of year!

tufteach, Western AK. below the Arctic Circle, meaning we still get to see the sun during the day for at least a few hours.
Another beach shot a month after the one above.

So far this year, it's been cold, but not cold enough for snow. Just rain, occasional flurries and sometimes a lovely mixed mess. Here's my nephew during the annual Ridgely, MD Christmas parade - 35 degrees and snain. I gave him my point and shoot to use - at 4, he's quite the budding photographer.
quite the contrast from the photo above!

This is a panorama taken from my front porch 12/24 AND it snowed more after this! On the far right is my car buried--I dug it out the day before to go to the grocery store. Now I am at my son's house snowbound. His truck is stuck in an ice trench! The panorama was shot on auto, so the exposure isn't consistent. But the power is back on and we are due for a thaw! Wishful thinking?!

Oooh, I am loving this thread. Things just turned hot here in Melbourne and I am impatient for winter. *stares longingly at the cold and snow*

So, Nieton, you know what it's been like in the Portland area! I am near St. Helens (Yankton) still snow and ice bound, but beginning to thaw. Plus hopefully we have a tractor coming to dig us out!

Yahoo! We are unstuck! A thaw started but where we are will take days so a tractor came and cleared the 1/4 mile long, hilly, shaded driveway. Now we can safely drive to the cleared road. Now it's just pea soup fog so I'll wait til tomorrow to go home to my house. How's everyone else faring? Sounds like there are a lot of trouble spots across the states.

The view down my street. We just got over a long cold streak and snow that isn't very common here in western Washington.
