Someone wants my photo!

So recently, someone Flickr messaged me saying that their company would want to purchase the copyrights to one of my photos for a project.
They didn't say much else, but seemed professional.
I messaged them back asking for more details on how it will be used, etc.
What's next? I've never sold one of my pictures before! How much does it pay? How will I receive money?
Someone please fill me in!
Thank you!

Congrats on the interest in your photo.  Did they send you more details. The value of the photo is entirely up to you - rights can be sold from $1 to $25,000 depending on what the photo is and what they want to use it for.

Make sure that it's not a scam.  There is a popular scam going around where they target photo sites, offering to pay large amounts for a photo/piece of art work, only to fool people into loosing large amounts of $$

Do some more research on your prospective buyer!

Hey everyone- thanks for the replies and concerns. It turned out to be a real company indeed, located in the UK, and they were going to pay $950 US dollars for it. They were going to use it for an ad there. However, when they found out I was based in the states, they emailed me back saying that it would take too long to send me the forms and contracts, pay me, and get their project in on time. However, they said they would keep me in mind for future work, etc.

Disappointing, but it was a cool idea! Hopefully a similar opportunity will come up again soon. I need to pay for college.
