Well, I'm almost done with my 4th 365 and I'm all over the map. Sometimes I do themes (like if I get a new lens), sometimes I just do whatever is in front of my lens. I'm just finishing up with 31 days of horror and gore and scary pictures for Halloween, but that's the only theme I consistently do. I imagine for Christmas I might do more lights and trees and whatnot, but I'm not doing the whole month of that.

Hmmm, that's not much help is it? (:

I would just pick up a camera and start shooting. Pay no attention themes or "what I should I shoot?" and just start snapping. The themes and ideas will come.

I am in my last two months of my current 366. I shoot mostly what's in front of me, but do sometimes plan special shots or like in October, use only one lens for the month. You will NEVER run out of things to shoot if you use your imagination and also notice even the simplest things around you. For one of my earlier 365's, I was quite ill  and at home or the hospital a great deal of the time but managed to complete the 365. So, just set your start date and go from there--themes, no themes, whatever!

What they said ^^^^. I'm one day away from my 365th photo (I actually started Nov 8th last year, started officially on Jan 1. There are no rules) and have not followed a theme either. My shots vary from finding ways to take good shots to using the POD as a way to document things that happened or were important to me. I've got some surprisingly good shots (I'm using my iPhone for this) and some not-so-good ones. (see the orange crocs shot in my signature below for an excellent example of one of those.)

I do it because it makes me take at least a few moments of my day to think about what I want to shoot. It often reminds me to look for the beautiful and interesting or to pay more attention to what's going on around me. For me, it's therapy through the lens.

Check out some of the very many Picture of the Day groups on flickr. You're sure to get ideas there if you want to have a theme. But, my suggestion is to go for it and not get too hung up on the rules (because there are none.)

Great shots everyone! I had started one a few months ago, and it was going great for the first while, but then I did start running out of ideas I have to admit...Internet is full of so much junk, so it wasnt much help really...
I found an interesting app for my iphone on the app store that I've been playing with that you may want to look at getting. It's a photography assignment generator that gives you ideas.  I'm just shooting with the iphone, and there is a 99 cent version that is for iphone/ipod touch users, but there is also a version for those with SLRs that is like $3.  and a free version too..i tried that one out, and it had lots of stuff in it, but the paid version had so much more. lots of great random assignments, scavenger hunt, lots of photos and techniques...and you can set up a daily reminder to get an assignment.
totally worth the $1 (or $3 for you slr shooters...maybe one day I'll be good enough to upgrade to one of those!!)

this link should take you to them: https://itunes.apple.com/artist/noel-ch … d566645905 if not, just look up photography assignment.

Just wondering, how did you get your flickr stream down below?  not sure if my pix are that great to share, but I am looking at setting one up...
