Aperture users--need your help.

Decided I wanted to experiment with black and white. My plan was to start with a simple image with the camera set for B&W. I did that and from the camera viewer it looked like I got what I wanted. However, when I uploaded to Aperture, it loaded as b&w but then instantly changed to color HUH? WHY? I used Aperture adjustments to go black and white and than added a slight color cast. But that is not what I had in mind for my experimenting. Any Aperture users out there that know why this happens? I'm sure I will figure it out eventually. But, if someone knows, it would save me some time.

Hi TT, I'm not an aperture reason, but I can tell you that if you shot in RAW, it will not save the photo as black & white.What you see on the back of the camera is a jpeg rendering of your settings. If you did RAW plus JPEG, you could get a look at how the camera would render b&w.

Personally, I would do what you've been doing, so you can get an idea in camera of whether the photo would render well in black & white, but I would do my conversion on my computer -- if you do it right (not just "desaturate" or change to grayscale), you can do a much better job on your own.
