Day 307/365 - Fall upon us by Great Beyond, on Flickr
I'm going to have to go with this one - and it looks like 36 other people agree with me, according to all the favorites it's garnered since I posted it. By the way, for those of you who want a refresher, here's the Best of 2011 thread: http://forum.photojojo.com/viewtopic.php?pid=57190

I saw this beginning to develop and suddenly realized my camera bag was still in my office at work! Then I remembered my old Canon G5, tucked away in a drawer, and it was off to the beach...

Ok, I'm gonna post this one, because I like it, the year is over in a couple hours, and I don't think I'll be taking anymore photos in 2012. I got lucky with it, it was processed minimally, and I didn't get attacked by any moose.

I think this is probably my favorite photo from this year. Maybe not my best, but oh well, I like it.

That's a bit of a challenge - for any of us - that's for sure! I just did an advanced search on Flickr to bring up all my 2012 uploads. I was surprised at how difficult it was to pick "the" one. Of course, there were many that made me wonder why I had posted them in the first place :-). I picked this one, mainly because I have it, and the other one in this series, enlarged and framed on my entry room wall. A friend of my son, who is a professional photographer, visited the other day and complimented me on it, which was pleasing, to say the least. Here is the image:
20120815 Red balloon cluster over Ekka by Degilbo on flickr, on Flickr
This is the note I added on Flickr at the time I posted it (20120815): "Brisbane's annual Royal National Exhibition is currently in full swing. Colloquially known across Queensland and Australia as the "Ekka". These large red balloons were floating serenely above one of the display pavilions, against a backdrop of the beautiful clear sky we had today."

I made 3 photographs that I'm proud of this year. One is a profile of a praying mantis, the second is a detail of a tree on a windy night. However, I'm sharing the third: I am really not super happy with it, but it is the one solid image I made south of 24mm.

The serindipity placement of the sun is astounding. That's a million to one shot, Degilbo! Good stuff!
(And yeah, I had the same problem picking out my best too).

Hard to choose since each one is taken for a reason. But, I chose this one because it is one of those 'in the right place at right time' shots and I really like the composition too.

sophie and imthinkingoutloud, You must copy the BCCode and paste it into you PJJ post for your image to show. That code is found under "Share" above the selected image.

Thanks, Greatbeyond! Actually the "sun" is flare on the balloon's surface with a little bit of help from Topaz Software :-).

This is one of my favorite photographs from 2012, particularly because it was my very first film capture in many years, (was taken with my 1960 "FED 2" Soviet-made 35mm rangefinder) and is from the first roll of film I've developed myself since high school, some 35 years ago!
This is the historic seaside fishing community of Tilting, located near my home on Fogo Island, a one hour ferry ride off the northeast coast of Newfoundland. I'll bet this scene looks almost exactly as it did a century ago!
