Attention Northwesterners - go take a picture of a sloth!
Okay, this thread is of use to a pretty limited demographic (me, joolieboolie and tufteach as far as I know), but I thought I'd mention it anyway. So I've mentioned the Northwest Trek Photo Tours before - http://www.nwtrek.org/photo-tours/ - but I found these guy via Reddit just today: http://www.chasing-tail.com/tours.htm
Yeah, wolves and sloths and lemurs and Kangaroos and - a whole bunch of cuddly awesome critters! If that's not screaming out for some photos, I don't know what is! I'll give you my full report when I get down there next road trip.

I want to go! Rainier is right down the road. It is a bit pricey, however. I had no idea it was there. I might scope it out next week when I go to Longview

You'll have to give me all the details when you do. It'll probably be 3 or so months before I can shake loose a saturday to go check 'em out.

OK, I drove by the sloth center today. If I would have blinked, I would have missed it. It is across from the Amish Furniture Store, which is a pretty cool place. The Sloth Center looks like a property you would see anywhere out in the countryside--house, shop, outbuildings; chickens, ducks, peafowl roaming around; and a cat and goat on the front porch. So, if you fo expecting to just look, you won't see much. GB, If you do go, let me know and maybe we can meet up.

Perhaps we can hook up - it wont be until the spring probably, but we can certainly give a good try!
Also, if you're looking for more animals/birds to shoot, you might want to give this a try: http://ridgefieldfriends.org/ - the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, about 30 or so miles south of Longview, right up against the Columbia (one of the tributaries, it looks like). I stumbled on it by accident on some dudes Flickr stream and there's some serious potential there.
