Honestly, it's not a bad shot - pretty much in line with what I would expect from a toy Lomography camera. Is it the "Unprecedented sharpness" that was bigged up in all the press releases? Nope. Is that a 300 dollar camera? Nope. But it is very much in line what what you might see from a Holga or a Diana.

Oh, those are frustrating. I am sorry. Now, please, take your $300 to e-bay and get yourself a Mamiya m645 or Yashica-Mat 124G, either of which can be bought for less than $300, with a lens, and will give you some beautiful some high quality photographs.

I was THIIIIIIIIS close to picking up a Mamiya 645 and a couple of lenses for 500 bones today at the local camera store - but then my self control kicked in and I decided to think about it for a couple of days. 
Besides, I think I prefer the Yashica-D over the Mamiya. I'm sure they'll both be awesome, but I like the look of the Yashica better.

Well, I'm a camera slut. I found a Mamiya C3 Professional at the local camera store today for 300 bucks (well, 275 plus taxes) and threw my money at the fellow at the counter. Yeah, it's about a hundred bucks more than what I would have dropped on ebay - but it's got a 2 year warntee and the ability to touch and hold it and examine it before hand is worth that extra Jackson.
I'll grab a roll of film tommrow when I go shoot the Chinese New Year in Chinatown and let you guys know how it turns out!

Well, I got my first roll back from the C3 - 4 of the shots was my friend messing about with it before he went "Oh, I bet there's film in there!" and stopped. One of the shots was just too dark - my error, and most of them were pretty spot on, considering I was using the Sunny 16 rule and not much else. If I wind up using this beast more, I'll have to get a light meter for sure!
Meanwhile, here's my last shot of the Belair. Much like the shots it gave me, this one was accidental underexposed. Ah well, at least the Mamiya is working out. . . .

Oh that is so exciting! I must have crossposted with you last week so didn't realize you'd bought the Mamiya. I can't wait to see your other photos. Did you crop the one above?
edit -- I see now that you didn't meant that was taken with the Mamiya. I am looking forward to the Mamiya shots. I'm taking some film in to be developed today, mostly from a camera I know well but also some from my uncle's old Olympus Pen F. Keeping my fingers crossed it works out.

Naw, my Mamiya shots are about a week or so away from getting posted - and I need to drag it out again, just as soon as the weather turns nicer. But so far the results seem very promising!

Degilbo, are you shooting film again? Can't wait to see.
I don't have a smartphone or even an ipod touch, so I can't use the lightmeter apps. I bartered for a lightmeter, but I'm having trouble with it. I need to spend some time with it and the manual to see whether it actually works. I've been using my digital camera to meter (all the film cameras I love are meter-less), but that's clunky to carry around along with a film camera, especially with a medium format camera.

Thanks D for the heads up - but unfortunately I only have a Dumbphone and not a Smartphone (actually it's borderline retarded - but that's neither here nor there), so sadly this tip will do me no good. And for upgrading to an Iphone, I might as well drop the 500 bucks on a real meter.

Personally if I had the money to go for a meter, I'd probably buy a new ipod touch or galaxy player instead, since I don't have one, and everyone says the lightmeter apps work great (they end up leaving their stand-alone meters at home), and then I'd have the rest of the benefits as well. I don't particularly want a smartphone, because I don't really need constant wireless -- I'm home a lot.

As far as dedicated light meter versus Iphone, I'd still probably go dedicated meter. Some of the functionality that I've been looking at also has the light meter acting as a wireless trigger for flashes. Lets see an Iphone do that! (:

Yeah, actually I've done quite a bit of flash with film. Sometimes it doesn't work (mostly during the early days), usually tho I've gotten the forumla down pretty good.
Here's an early flash experiment, where the shutter speed beat the flash tube and only illuminated half the frame:
